The Ohio Revised Code establishes the duties of the County Engineer. They include:

  • maintenance and construction of county roadways;
  • maintenance, reconstruction, and inspection of county bridges;
  • engineering advisor to Township Trustees;
  • tax map drafting services; and
  • maintenance of petitioned and assessed county ditches.

The County Engineer is responsible for preparing an annual ditch report for ditches on maintenance. The Morrow County Engineer and the Morrow County Commissioners have set up ditch committees to inspect and review each ditch on maintenance. Ditch Committees are comprised of 2 to 4 landowners within the water shed. Currently we have eleven ditches on maintenance.


The County Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, repair, widening and resurfacing of 380 miles of county highway. He also serves as an engineering advisor to the Township Trustees for the maintenance, widening and repair of township roads.


The County Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, repair and reconstruction of 348 bridges and approximately 1890 culverts on both the county and township highway systems. He performs annual inspections and evaluations of the condition of each bridge.
